“There is no such thing as a "broken family." Family is family, and is not determined by marriage certificates, divorce papers, and adoption documents. Families are made in the heart. The only time family becomes null is when those ties in the heart are cut. If you cut those ties, those people are not your family. If you make those ties, those people are your family. And if you hate those ties, those people will still be your family because whatever you hate will always be with you.” ― C. JoyBell C.
FAMILY COACHING
Parents/Siblings/Children/Reunited Family/
New Family/Extended Family
Sometimes the hardest people to build relationships with are the ones we did not choose. Many of us have had past and current issues with our parents, parents that were around and parents that weren't around. We have resentment about how we were raised and the things we feel they put us through during our younger years that carry on into our adult life and relationship with them. This same phenomenon happens with older and younger siblings where we do not have the type of sibling relationships that we truly want. When we don't have the relationship we want with our parents or siblings it can transfer over into other areas of life such as our parenting, friendships, significant others, and more. Identifying and making these relationships whole again help us to feel whole and understand we truly can have the relationship we have always wanted. This goes for all types of family relationships we have and most of the time it truly starts with ourselves. Family coaching can help you identify and understand what type of relationship you have always wanted with certain family members and help you find ways to create those relationships with those special people through understanding and healing.
In addition, family coaching can help in the aspect of being a parent. We strive to be the best parent we can and to have a close, trusting relationship with our children. Being a parent is a tough job that many of us have no preparation for, other than what our parents did. Although there is a wealth of information available on the web about parenting, it is hard to decipher what would truly work for us and our child. This is where family coaching can offer a great deal of perspective and help. With family coaching, we identify all the possibilities and then begin to understand which ones would work best for you and your child in the circumstances you face. Fitting our parenting role into our life is hard - it can be very difficult to feel confident and successful as a parent - even if you have a great career. Family coaching can help you to talk out and understand -how do you feel as a parent? What goes well? What may not be going quite as well? Why do you think that is? Do you have a particular issue that is bothering you or just a general sense that things shoud be going better? Is being a parent what you expected? Are you comfortable in the role of 'parent'? Do you miss your career? Is being mom or dad what you dreamed of?
